10 Simple Things You Can do to Celebrate the Autumn Equinox!
Welcome to BSA - The Conscious Alignment of Energy
The
autumn equinox is the first day of fall. For most of us, fall is a time
that ushers in harvests, preserving food for the upcoming months,
enjoyment of the colors of the changing leaves and beginning to prepare
oneself both physically and psychologically for the upcoming colder
months. The famous poet, Keats, said fall was the "season of mists and
mellow fruitfulness." Fall is a wonderful season filled with vibrant
colors, cooler days and different foods.
In this newsletter, have fun with some simple ways to celebrate the
autumn equinox. I have combined a variety of goodies from simple things
you can do in and around your home to yoga poses that work with the
"inward" movement of energy for this season.

What Makes The Equinox Special?
This
is a day when both the daytime and nighttime are of the same length,
which has been long interpreted to mean the world is in balance. Once
the autumn equinox passes, the nights begin to get longer and the
weather cooler. It is a time to gather harvest and determine what is
needed for the upcoming winter. This is a time to determine what you may
need physically and emotionally to restore and balance your own life.
1. Consider a Welcome Party:
Why
not welcome autumn in with a party. Invite friends or family and ask
everyone to bring their favorite fall dish. Fruits and vegetables such
as apples, pears, squash and pumpkin are all wonderful fall foods. We
have our party scheduled already!
2. Infuse Autumn Décor in and Around Your Home:
If
you want others to enjoy your arrival of fall, why not enhance your
environment with autumnal items like pumpkins, straw, a scarecrow or
your favorite fall photo. Enhance the western portent of your home with
metal and earth elements. For example, a metal bowl or your favorite
stones creatively placed on an end table or cocktail table is one way to
honor the elements of the west.
3. Get Crafty:
Fall
inspired crafts are not only a fun way to express your artistic side,
but a great way to infuse positive energy into your environment. Gather
berries, pinecones, leaves and other fall favorite items from nature and
then put them together for a fall wreath. You can also make leaf prints
and frame them. This is an especially fun project for your children or
grandchildren to take part in.
4. Journal Your Achievements & Experiences:
In
feng shui, the autumn equinox is associated with the element of metal.
This is an element that moves inward. Take the time to get quiet and
reflect on all the blessings that you have received over the past
several months. This is a way of restoring gratitude within your life.
Fine-tune what you have achieved and create space for all that is yet to
come.
5. Contemplate:
This
is a time that the buzz of summer winds down and life outdoors calms
down. Take the lead from nature and calm your mind down. Set up a daily
meditation practice, take some yoga classes, tai chi or qigong. This is a
perfect way to bring balance to your mind, body and spirit.
6. Seek to Improve Your Health:
There
is no time like the present to improve your health. There are so many
delicious fruits and vegetables to help you cleanse and keep healthy.
One way to really make a difference in your health is choosing the right
foods for you personally. How? I can produce a 4 Pillars Chart based on
your birth data and determine what specifics elements you may be
heavily weighted in or too weak. Based on this information, I can recommend a list of elemental foods to assist in balancing your energy. For
example, I am a balanced metal chart (see below), albeit these charts
can be tricky, I do best infusing my diet with metal and water foods. Find out what foods are best for YOU personally for just $29.95.
You'll receive a 7 page printed out chart plus the foods that bode best
for you. And of course you can always build on this service with a
professional life reading from me personally. Email me now!
7. Touch Up Your Moldings:
I love the way it looks and feels when my
moldings and doors are clean and bright. Most moldings and doors have
white semi-gloss enamel paint finish. This correlates directly to the
element of metal that is associated with the autumn season. Take note of
how your moldings and internal doors look. If you need to kick it up a
notch, then go for the gusto and illuminate these aspects of your home.
This is definitely on my list!
8. Bring More Light into Your Home:
As the days get shorter and the nights get
longer you'll want to add more light source to your home. Be creative in
your choices. Perhaps some salt candles that will act twofold;
illuminate and improve air quality. Light up rooms you normally do not
spend time in. This is a fantastic way to improve the energy in
different areas of your life that may seem stagnate.
9. Honor Your Family and Ancestors:
The inward movement of energy this time of
year is the polar opposite of the outward wood energy of spring. The
family/ancestor aspect in feng shui corresponds to the east or spring
wood energy. Everything in the universe works in polar opposites;
therefore, this is a good time of the year to honor your family and
ancestors. Spend time with family and look through old photos of those
who are on the other side of the veil.
10. Have some fun!
The
west portent in feng shui is a playful type of energy. It's all about
letting your inner child come out to play. Is there something you love
to do that takes you back to your childhood? Take some time to think
about how you can become deliciously enthusiastic about anything!
