September: Refining, Evolving & Managing Change Welcome!  Refining, Evolving and Managing Change is the theme for the month of September. Yin metal is the overwhelming quality element for this month. Yin metal sits above the Yin Metal Rooster branch while the Yin Metal trigram (Dui) flies overhead on the loshu grid.  The metal or air element is associated with autumn - the time of harvest, changes and reflection. In today's newsletter, I'll review the qualities of the energy combinations and the best way to navigate through them. Elevate Your Consciousness! Mary Jane Refine - Evolve - Change: This month the 7 metal (Dui)  trigram representing the lakes upon the earth, moves to the center of the Lo Shu grid. Seven metal is an accumulator so changes and experiences are readily available to those who are open to what the world offers. This is a month to accumulate knowledge and material wealth. In doing so, however, requires reflection and the ability to take on challenges that occur when circumstances change. Maintaining a strong bond with your past assists with challenges that arise. Stick to your roots and it will act as a buffer as you move through these changes and refine your vision. Maintaining a "work hard, play hard" philosophy of life will keep you in touch with your childlike nature - a perfect blend with Dui trigram's nature.  Seven Metal Dui is not an initiator or very good with completing tasks. However, it is an energy that is fantastic when it comes to evaluating processes and setting standards. When it comes to business this month, you want to seek change. Notice the subtle trends and patterns that are building and forge ahead with them. In terms of the spiritual matters this month, the I Ching trigram for seven metal is the joyous lake (Dui). Like a calm, cool lake it is characterized by a gentle calm exterior and a strong, deep interior. It is important to cultivate time and space for quietness. Pranayama (breathing practices),  are very useful this month to calm the mind and body. Once the mind is calm, it is like the lake able to calm down so the reflection of the surface can then be contemplated. You are able to see things more clearly and cultivate wisdom from the depths of your awareness. In terms of health this month, the element of metal is primarily associated with the lungs, colon and skin. The skin acts as a protective barrier as the season changes, while the colon acts as an interior protective barrier, and the lungs as a way of adjusting to the changes of temperature and amount of respiratory input for the body. The body can easily feel ungrounded and the mind unfocused during this metal/air (vatta) month. Therefore, meditation practices become even more important to center and ground the mind and body. It is also beneficial to loofa when bathing this month to stimulate the skin and activate the lungs. Little or no dairy is best to decrease the amount of mucus. A diet rich in fiber will bode well for the intestinal tract. Try to avoid raw foods and frozen foods that can easily upset the microbes of intestinal flora. Yin Metal Rooster Branch: September is also the month of the Rooster. Finances are a center of attention - sorting them out and guarding "the money." Setting up a budget this month for finances and your time is extremely beneficial. Organizing those loose papers and receipts is a must this month. It will put things in proper perspective. The Rooster has a predilection for controversy; therefore, you may notice unrest on a personal level and in general. It is best to take a softer approach with all matters this month while paying attention to details. It is also important to be realistic with your goals and avoid being over ambitious, as disappointment can easily follow. Environment:  The 7 metal star represents the west portent of your environment. Here are a few pointers for this direction: Add a strong earth or metal qualities such crystals, stones, or metal objects. This will naturally build and assist the quality of this portent which represents childlike joy.   Incorporate circular or demi-lune shapes to further activate the support of metal. An image of joy or whatever makes your heart sing bodes well to remind you of the child within. You can also place an image of a serene lake as a reflective quality to move through change.  Other Areas of Concern: When seven-metal is the highlight trigram for the month, the remaining trigrams move to different positions. On a very basic level, we are able to see how other aspects of our life take on this moving energy. Here are some things to consider: When it comes to family and health this month there is some chaos. Best to be diligent with diet and mindful meditation practice. Seek a financial advisor this month to evaluate your holdings. Evaluate your mission and make sure there is room for a joyful/playful approach. Helpful people/mentors are a plus this month when it comes to opportunity and resources that directly impacts finances. This is especially so for male. Windfalls in career this month but not without legal parameters and possible disagreements. Meditation practice reveals clarity for long-terms strategies. This is important as there is some questioning as to your path. Building Blocks for New Things is the Energy Forecast for Today!

With yang wood fueling the fire horse today,  you can expect a great deal of movement with new projects and wrapping up loose ends with the old ones. The most productive way to approach this energy combination is to finish up old business before delving into something new. Easier said then done however, as yang wood has a tendency to move at a rapid pace flooding the mind with ideas that you'll want to act on immediately. I find if I tend to the old first, but infuse a few new things in between, I am able to be most productive.

The fire horse will rise during the second half of the day. Therefore, make it a point to spend time outdoors. Take in the fresh air and engage in some form of cardio activity. The horse loves nothing more than to be in nature and to move around with elegance and speed.

Additional Areas of Focus Include:

• The overall theme for today is to spend quality time with your significant other. There is a beautiful combination that sits in the center of the loshu today that references love.
• Review your goals and future aspirations. Format a plan on how to reach these goals successfully. A little bit each day is the key to success.
• Career shift or change in environment is an underlying theme for today. Look to those who you can network with or share similar interests for guidance.
• Resources are available if you take the time to do your research and rely on your intuition.
• Be mindful  of family interactions today, as the energy is rather cutting between male and female.

It's Monday and It's Time to Establish Your Focus!

Today is a day to turn up your focus and establish something new. That should be pretty simple as the heavenly stem for today is yang wood. Wood is an element that is all about new beginnings, growth and potential. However, don't be tempted to jump around from one task to another, as you will feel the pressure of failing to accomplish what you set out to achieve for the day. The tension is most likely to express itself, as the metal branch applies a great deal of pressure to the wood stem. The best approach is to write down a clear and concise plan of action for the day and listen to those you trust. Communication is also a very important aspect to your approach today. Be flexible and listen intently, especially if you have a business deal in the making.

Other Areas of Focus Include:

• Trust the resources available to you by way of your networking. There is a tremendous opportunity that can really make a difference when it comes to finances.
• Safe time in your day for some relaxation or something fun you an enjoy. In doing this clarity comes to regarding future goals and direction of your life mission.
• In your meditation practice today, set the intention for long-term journey. Listen to the whispers from higher self that will provide right direction.
• Windfalls on the job but can also elicit disagreement with male. Take it one step at a time and proceed mindfully.
• Be careful using credit card especially online transactions as there is a tendency for undermining activity. 
• Rely on networking relationship that has a perfect alignment with increase revenues.

Tip of the Day:

When faced with negative situations, try to look for the positive.

Resources - Truth - Strategy: Find Out How to Approach the Month of August!

Resources - Truth - Strategy View this email in your browser August: Resources - Truth - Strategy Welcome!  Resources - Truth and Strategy is the theme for the month of August. The combination of the Earth Mountain, double Metal and Water provides rich resources found within the earth cradled by the movement of water.  Together, these elements provide the foundation for plenty of resources  this month. It is important however to approach these resources with integrity and a strategy that is productive and effective. In today's newsletter, I'll review the qualities of the energy combinations and the best way to navigate through them.   Elevate Your Consciousness! Mary Jane   Resources - Truth - Strategy: This month the 8 earth (Gen) or mountain takes front and center of the Lo Shu. Earth greets metal, earth and water in the Monkey branch. The Monkey archetype is like the seasoned traveler of the Labyrinth. It is the wizard of the impossible. The monkey is the sign of the inventor, the improvisor and the motivator. This is a month where you can easily problem solve situations, be clever and innovative. Being factual and truthful is the best approach in utilizing the rich resources (Gen - Mountain) has to offer, especially when dealing directly with the monkey archetype. The monkey is a born strategist. Therefore, do not make a move this month without a plan, probably several plans in place. Do not turn your back on an opportunity, as the energy combinations this month support positive outcomes as long as you take the time to properly prepare. This shouldn't be a problem however, as the quality of metal naturally moves towards precision in thought, word and action. Furthermore, the vatta quality that is rising aligns to the element of metal, and provides all the necessary movement to digest information and make things happen. The 8 earth mountain trigram (Gen), is yang but supported by two yin lines making this an introspective yet steady energy. It is associated with both the pingala and ida channels.  Therefore, it is best utilized by building a strong and grounded foundation so you can rely on your intuition and wisdom. This can be attained through a meditation practice.  You must however, take that wisdom and get out and use it. Be in front of people so you can move your plan into action. As long as you rely on the inner mountain or higher self, the resources will freely flow like water that flows upon the earth. This really becomes a balancing act between yin and yang. You must take enough action (Yang) to realize the rich resources that are available but this can only come through quietude and introspection (Yin). With just the right amount of each aspect, lightness in consciousness (Sattva), will arise and these resources or opportunities will unfold with grace. Putting the Three Together: Earth is grounding, supportive, stable, safe and reassuring. You need these qualities to feel confident and fully connected to your thoughts, ideas and others. These qualities are doubled this month through the Gen (8 trigram) and the Monkey hidden stem. Earth builds metal, as ore is found within the earth. The metal is strong this month (August), by way of the Monkey and the heavenly stem. Metal is the child of earth; therefore, it will test your balance through proper planning, strategy, thought process and integrity when taking action. The element of water lies beneath the Monkey branch, or is hidden. In nature, water also lies beneath to fill the water tables for plants to set root. This means there is a natural ebb and flow with your thoughts and actions. Communication and flexibility is a must for plans to shake out properly. With the dog days of August before us, a little water beneath these combinations is beneficial, as it will cool down the heat and keep us agile in the process.   Environment:  The 8 earth star represents the northeast portent of your environment. Here are a few pointers for this direction: Add a strong earth or fire feature such crystals, stones, candles or oil diffuser. This will naturally assist and build the earth quality of this portent which represents higher wisdom and knowledge.   Incorporate square or rectangular shapes to further activate the support of earth. An image of a majestic mountain bodes well to remind you of the stillness that lies within. You can also place an image of a saint or angel as a guide with your intuition.   Foods:  8 Gen Earth prefers fire foods such as chicory, endive, asparagus, sweet potatoes or earthy foods such as broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, zucchini, avocado and beans.  Other Areas of Concern: When eight-earth is the highlight trigram for the month, the remaining trigrams move to different positions. On a very basic level, we are able to see how other aspects of our life take on this moving energy. Here are some things to consider:     When it comes to family this month travel is a must. Where is your ideal destination vacation? Figure it out and seek the journey. It will be transformational! Be mindful of credit card or bank issues this month. You can be easily hacked if you don't take precautions. Leisure reading and some research is beneficial to build on goals and direction you are thinking about taking. Windfalls are the result of following through on your goals. See your vision and go for it! Partnerships can be chaotic this month - two steps forward and three back.  Find ways to be more creative on the job. This will change the dynamic of joy with your work. Reach out to share your vision with others who share your interest. This can turn into a fabulous opportunity. Any literature that deals with self-exploration is an excellent choice for this month.
