Spending the morning hours creating new concepts for a fresh start bodes well. It is important however not to get caught up in any red tape with new venture. This can easily occur by taking on too many things at once. Also be mindful of being overly blunt in situations that arise today as you can easily hurt other people's feelings. Make sure you spend some time today enjoying the arts even if it simply is thumbing through an art history book.

Sacred Geometry!

Sacred Geometry is a science that explores energy patterns that create and unify all things. On every scale, every natural pattern of growth conforms inevitably to one or more geometric shapes. The ancients believed that the experience of Sacred Geometry was essential to the education of the soul. Let's take a look how to infuse sacred symbols in your home and garden.

Sacred Geometry in Home & Gardens
As you enter the world of Sacred Geometry you begin to see as never before the wonderfully patterned beauty of Creation.  The molecules of our DNA, the cornea of our eye, snow flakes, pine cones, flower petals, diamond crystals, the branching of trees, a nautilus shell, the star we spin around, the galaxy we spiral within, the air we breathe, and all life forms as we know them emerge out of timeless geometric codes. Viewing and contemplating these codes offers a glimpse into the inner workings of the Universal Mind and the Universe itself.

Ways to Infuse Sacred Geometry in and Around your Home
When sacred geometry is infused into building designs via proportions in the actual architecture, the building vibrates at frequencies that are aligned with life, thus supporting healing and well-being for residents or visitors. This is actually the best way to design buildings and homes but most architects do not work on that level. This is why Feng Shui works really well with sacred geometry, by incorporating the directions and auspicious colors and elements for each sector. So for example, a yang direction such as the south should have green color hues or fire hues and plenty of wood and fire elements. Plants being the perfect wood element,  provide sacred proportion through the fractals found on their leaves.

Adding Flowers, Crystals & Seashells
Fresh cut flowers, especially  sunflowers in a vase  or seashells in a dish is a simple way to infuse sacred geometry into your living space. The basic geometric spiral form that is found in flowers and seashells is called a toroid. This design carries blueprints or codes of creation forming sacred geometric fields that are very healing.
Crystals are another simply way to elevate the energy in your space. Because of their structure, crystals have the ability to hold a stable vibration. They can create an energetic flow that can best support the occupants of the space, especially if  placed in a sacred geometric pattern.

Sacred Gardens
The circle is a sacred symbol as it represents infinity, perfection and the eternal. This is a powerful shape that you can bring into your garden space. Embellish it with the elements of nature incorporating different flowers, rocks, spheres, garden art, a pond or stream. Make sure you add an enclosure so you get the feeling of a sanctuary. This can be done with natural materials to emulate the Garden of Eden.

Think about creating a garden that will attract wildlife as this will bring in the elements of sounds. Birds singing and calling reassures us that everything is well. We are fascinated that they have their own language and that they can communicate with each other.

The concept of Sacred geometry supports life while attracting amazing energy to our spaces. This is very healing and supports supports us in evolving our consciousness and connectedness with all that is around us.

Blessings,

Office Furniture!

If your office is a shared space, flexibility is key. So many times I see clients combine the purpose for a room. For example, a spare bedroom is also the office. If this sounds familiar you may want to invest in a foldaway sofa which allows you to maximize the office space when no guests are staying. Conversely, you may want to find ways of closing up your desk area when you do have guests. A built-in work space with hinged doors or a decorative screen bodes well. You can also transform an armoire into a study cabinet. This is a fantastic look that you can close up after your work day.

Desks:

Depending on your office space, your desk size may vary greatly. If you have a designated room for your office, the desk should be standard size. Here are a few types of eco-friendly materials to consider for your desk.

  • Recycled plastic creates a sleek contemporary look
  • Buy or make a wooden desk that uses FSC-certified lumber
  • Reclaim an old steel or wooden desk and make it you own

Eco Lighting!

Good lighting is essential if a home is to have the flexibility demanded by contemporary living. Adequate illumination makes a home safe and easy to use, satisfying to work in, and invigorating. By contrast, it can also help a space to be relaxing or even romantic after a long day at work.

We all need to reduce our carbon footprints by lowering the energy usage. Lighting is a specific area where we can cutback especially since it constitutes 15% of the energy we consume in our homes. The easiest way to do this is to maximize the use of natural light in every area of our home. We can do this by allowing as much natural light as possible in being cognizant of not overheating. Reflective surfaces to bounce light as well as color choices are very effective ways to throw light back into your space. Once the sun goes down artificial lighting takes over. Low-energy lighting is the way to go to reduce your energy usage. Here is the short-list of options:

  • Compact Fluorescent bulbs
  • Light Emitting Diodes
  • Halogens
  • Candles
Have some fun with your lighting options and create an environment that is irresistible!

Circulation Routes and Center of a Room!

Circulation routes such as halls, landings and stairs, are like the meridians, or energy lines, that thread through the body carrying chi (life force energy); both must be kept clear of blockages if the energy is to flow naturally. So avoid clutter in these parts of the home and place a ban on oversized furniture.

Keep the center of a room clear to create a sense of spaciousness and energy. This is an important principle of feng shui and Vastu (the ancient spiritual tradition of architecture and placement), which asserts that furniture placed in the sacred center of a room impedes flow of energy through the space.

Creating Abundance!

Creating Abundance
By: Mary Jane Kasliner, AAS, BS, ACFSI, ERYT-200

In these challenging economic times the word “Abundance” seems obscure.  Why is that?  Is it because we only associate abundance with money?  Webster defines “Abundance” as “fullness to overflowing, a great or plentiful amount.”  So what does abundance mean to you?  Once you define “Abundance” in your own terms, then the door is open to creating it in your life.  How do you go about creating this?  The first step to attracting abundance in your life is to check in with your “self-talk.”  In other words, what is the “mind chatter” exactly saying?  The power behind our thoughts and words is the defining point between attracting and repelling experiences in our life. For example, if you honor your worth and time, give and receive freely, and open your heart, you will begin to attract all that is good and abundant into your life.  On the other hand, not honoring your worth and time, not being open to receiving and giving, and closing your heart is the exact countermeasure or repelling thought process to creating abundance in your life.

From a Feng Shui perspective, abundance can be represented by any one of the Guas in the ba-gua template.  Again, we revisit the question… What does Abundance mean to you?  If your answer is Wealth, then several “Power Points” can be evaluated within the structure.  The most simplistic approach is to evaluate the Wealth (Southeast) and Near Wealth (Northwest) portents.  These two areas act as polarities to one another and should be balanced with the appropriate elements and symbols of prosperity.  The Southeast area of the outer landscape should present with year round vegetation, be well maintained and have activating qi components such as a bird feeder, bird bath or wooden chime.  Enticing qi in the Southeast area of the yard activates abundance on a social level.  Internally, the Southeast portent should exude a bright, lively feel with plenty of wood and water elements by way of healthy and vibrant plants, to a fountain of flowing water, and any symbol that represents abundance to you. The polarity or Near Wealth portent (Northwest) should house plenty of earth and metal elements.  This is an area of networking and mentorship.  There is always a person or group of people who provide guidance and assistance for us in life.  No one ever achieves success on their own.

On a deeper level of feng shui we can begin to examine additional points of prosperous energy within the structure.  Assessing the Na jia Method (advance 24 portents) can locate up to four additional sheng qi points (generating breath for good fortune/prosperity) within a structure.  By incorporating the proper element (supportive) one can open up and influence fortuitous energy within a space.  This technique bodes exceptionally well when the birth date of the structure is unavailable.  This method supersedes the Bazhai method which is only capable of finding one sheng qi point.

When the birth date of the structure is available, then Flying Star method should be employed.  In this advance method time and space are taken into account.  Locating the present water star (8) within the structure and supporting it with the proper forms (activity, windows, doorways) especially moving water, will effectively propagate wealth. Secondary wealth points in this method are also available and by enhancing all of these power spots one can dramatically improve “Abundance” from a wealth initiative.  Taking into account the obvious like clearing clutter and repairing anything that is broken or that no longer serves a purpose in your life, are also important factors to consider.

On a subtle level, paying attention to how you handle your money on a daily basis is also a contributing factor in attracting wealth-abundance into your life.  Respecting your money by placing it neatly in your wallet, paying your bills on time, and keeping your financial records organized says you care.  If you choose to neglect your money, then you are in fact telling the Universe to let money neglect you.

Abundance can take on many meanings besides financial wealth.  Should your directive be family, love, laughter of good friends, or experiencing your soul’s mission in life, then your “self-talk” should reflect that.  Connecting to your space by way of proper symbols and elements in the East, Southwest, Northwest and South respectively awakens these areas of abundance within your space directly impacting your behavior and ultimately you attracting this type of abundance into your life.
The most profound way to experience abundance is to live generously and allow it to flow through your life and not just into your life.  When we give we make room for even greater abundance to flow into our life. Showing gratitude on a daily basis for the abundance we do have in our life will effectively magnify this energy and more good things will come your way, including finances. Essentially, the more we are able to experience the prosperity that is already present in our lives, the more readily material blessings will show up.

Fire - The Power Element!

The element of fire is the most powerful of the 5 elements. In ancient Greek mythology, Prometheus was said to have created man by mixing earth and water together and Athena breathed air into this mixture imbuing it with spirit and soul. Prometheus added the higher soul with the element of fire that he borrowed from the wheel of the sun.

Fire enlightens everything leaving nothing in the shadows. Some other qualities of fire include:

1. Clarity - Fire illuminates, we see clearly and our insight gives us untold power. We become the creator of our own destiny and in the process empower self and others.

2. Being present - The fire element represents the "here and now." It teaches us to show up and be consciously aware of the world around us.

3. To be joyful - Fire is represented by the summer season and everything about summer spells joy. It is the time of year everything comes out to play, flowers are in bloom, and laughter is in the air.

4. Love - The heart is represented by the element of fire. The warmth and movement of the flame is like a warm heart open to receive and give love.

5. Power - A significant level of maturity is how we use power. The element of fire propels us to use power in a constructive manner by having a set of principles that guide our use of it.

To increase fire in your environment place strong wood or healthy plant in the south portent. Add fire images as well such as animal prints, the sun, stars, or people. Materials such as cotton or leather also bode well. Candles, fireplace or wood stove are also beneficial objects that represent the element of fire.

Here's to lighting up your life!

Simple Feng Shui Adjustments to Kick Things up a Notch!

Sipping my green tea with pomegranate this morning and ready to throw you a few feng shui adjustments that will kick things up a notch around your environment. Here we go!

1. Lighting - This is such a simply way to expand the energy in your home or office. Think upward lighting for those suppressed dark areas. You'll be glad you did. Gravitate towards incandescent or full spectrum lighting whenever possible. These are closest to nature. Of course your best bet is to let the sun shine in whenever possible. Use stain glass or colored bottles on a window ledge to spray a rainbow of colors into your room for a dramatic natural effect.

2. Mirrors - Can enlarge a smaller space, draw positive images into a room, defect negative energy and open up missing sections from the bagua template due to architectural design. Leave these handy accent pieces out of bedrooms please as they are just to energetic for the human body at rest.

3. Sound - The vibration of sound keeps energy moving. This can be achieved with chimes, water features, music or noise machines with nature sounds.

4. Stability Objects - Objects that are heavy such as statues, pillars, rocks or mountain images all provide a stabilizing element. These bode especially well in staircases or center of structure.

5. Life Force - Besides human energy, pets, fish plants and flowers are wonderful energy boosters.

6. Movement Objects - These tend to circulate energy throughout the environment keeping things fresh. Some examples are flags, wind socks, chimes, mobiles and water features.

7. Color - This is a playful way to kick the energy up in any environment. For a fresh and healthy look and feel make sure you use organic or no VOC paints. Be mindful of the room purpose, its direction and the color choices you make.

Ms. Feng Shui Tea-Totaler Says: Electromagnetics!

Needless to say we are all surrounded by electromagnetic frequencies. Albeit we love our electronics, they do not like us. One of the most important considerations for ensuring good feng shui is the flow of positive energy. One way of doing this is to reduce the level of harmful radiation in your home. Understand that anything that uses or transports electricity generates its own electromagnetic field (EMF). Below are a few simple ways to improve the energy in your environment.

  • Most effective plants to reduce headache and fatigue are cacti, peace lilies and spider plants.
  • When electrical equipment is not in use, make sure you uplug it from the electrical socket so that the electricity does not continue to run through the transformer.
  • Try to maintain a reasonable distance when using a computer and watching TV.
  • Grow healthy green plants is an excellent way to counteract EMF's because the natural energy that plants generate will work against the otherwise offending frequencies.
  • Fresh flowers also generate healthy energy, so keep them next to appliances, radios or TV.
  • You are at greatest risk from EMFs when you are asleep because you are dormant and passive in one place for a long period of time. To avoid this situation, keep electronics out of the bedroom. Use battery operate alarm clock and make sure it is 6 feet from the bed. Avoid TV in a bedroom but if that isn't possible make sure it is stored in a cabinet and off remote.
  • Use sheets that are 100 percent cotton as these will help prevent static charge.
  • Wear clothes of natural fibers or having natural fabrics in your house in general will also surround you in healthy , natural qi, as will opening your windows and curtains to let in fresh air and natural light.
  • Salt candles or lamps are also a great way to naturally purify the air.

Here's to cleaner air!

Meditation Day 2 - Connecting to your Core!

Day 2 in getting grounded the focus is your core. When the core is strong, it will help you feel steady physically and energetically. This makes it easier to feel centered when things get chaotic. The following are some poses that focus on the core.

*Begin in downward facing dog to warm up and stretch your limbs and muscles. As you move through the following asanas focus on breathing through the belly.

1. Warrior 3 - You can progress into this pose from Down dog. You have the option to remain supported in this pose with your hands down on the earth or a prop, or for the full expression lifting your arms off the ground. Remain in this pose for 3 breaths and repeat opposite side.

2. Triangle Pose - From Down dog progress into triangle pose. Concentrate on breathing into your arm extending towards the heavens and exhaling your navel back back to your spine to twist the heart space open, gazing towards the sky. Hold for 3 breaths and repeat opposite side.

3. Flying Side Angle Pose: From Down dog progress into this pose . Make sure you place the back heel down toward 45 degree angle, then stack your armpit over your knee. You have an option to lift your fingertips off the earth and literally "fly" in the pose. After 5 breaths return to Down dog and repeat opposite side.

4. Plank Pose: From Down dog inhale to plank, then exhale navel to spine, seat high back into down dog.  Repeat this sequence (inhale to plank exhale to down dog) at least 5 times.

5. Meditate: Come to a comfortable cross-legged seat. Bring your arms up to 60 degrees and fold your fingers into your palms, point your thumbs up and angle them slightly toward one another. Sit for 3 to 10 minutes, feeling a sense of joy. If your arms get tired rest them on your lap.

A nice way to end your meditation is to chant the sounds of the chakras: Lam, Vam, Ram, Yam, Ham, Om, Om!
