When Life Surprises You!

When Life Surprises You
View this email in your browser

Welcome!
Let's face it, life will surprise you no matter how organized your plans may be. Sometimes things don't go according to schedule. That's when Plan "B" comes into play. In other words, if we find a way to go along with the Universe's plan, then we will have resilience and transformation in our lives. Plan B helps us grow.

I personally have difficulty when things don't turn out the way I expected. Right now I'm feeling challenged with planning for my upcoming trip to India. The funny thing that has my mind doing cartwheels is figuring out the appropriate clothing to navigate through action-packed days. Sounds like I need to free up the "monkey mind" and just let things unfold. Phew; okay, I said it!

Let's find out why November is a month to have plan "B" in place.

Elevate Your Consciousness!

Mary Jane

Phase 1: Receptive Water over Receptive Water brings forth a few things to consider this month:

1. Persevere and be diplomatic.

2. Be perceptive at discovering people's hidden desires.

3. Be resourceful and use bargaining tactics when you can.

4. Believe in miracles. Remain peaceful yet earnest.

5. Socialize with family and friends but be mindful of overindulging.

6. Communication this month is about advancing your ideas by influencing the thoughts of others.

* Yin water over yin water nourishes. Therefore, it behooves you to nourish self and others this month. The sense of sight and the kidneys are most vulnerable. Take precautions to drink plenty of fluids and protect your eyes. Engaging in activities that keep the joints supple such as swimming or yoga bodes well this month. Guided meditations and a diet rich in fiber and foods like garlic, leek, sea vegetables, cabbage and turnips are also a good idea.

 Phase 2: Centering Earth
The month of November returns the loshu grid to its home. What does that mean? All the trigrams align to their natural position within the grid. For this to occur, the center is pure earth. This pure earth does not represent a trigram but rather the center whereby all things rotate around it. Think of the planets of the solar system revolving around the sun due to the force of its gravitational pull. The center of the loshu grid, represented by the number "5", is like the sun, whereby all the other trigrams revolve around it. In this system of feng shui, each trigram, and the number 5, goes through cycles of potential positive and negative influences. In this current 20 year cycle (2004 - 2024), the number 5 is considered chaotic. Here's comes "Plan B."

1. It is preferable not to engage in any major decisions or activities whereby there are lots of moving parts... And I'm travelling to India! Okay, it's all about intention. Take the time to double and triple check your plans, and make sure you have a "Plan B" available. Let's face it, life goes on. Be the warrior and go with the flow. Heed advice, look over contracts more than twice, and take out travel insurance. That was a reminder for me!

2. Keep strong ties with family this month. Be mindful of diet and exercise to keep healthy and vibrant. Windfalls are likely, so stay focused to navigate all the activity.

3. Take time to read and journal this month. Spin ideas and work with the Law of Attraction. This means you have to have a vision and goals to work with.

4. Be creative and playful this month. Try to view things from a child's perspective - like seeing things for the first time. It will reveal new information that otherwise may be overlooked.

5. Mentors, mentors, mentors! This is a month to seek them out. It may require travel to seek out who the Universe wants you to meet.

6. Be flexible and fluid like a serene waterway. Think of how water freezes when the temperatures drops. This is the type pf resistance that can occur if you are not mindful of speech.

7. Accept resources offered to you this month. Rely on your intuition if your plans fall apart.

Food to Incorporate This Month:

To remain balanced this month, it's a good idea to add some wood, water and metal foods.

Sample Wood Foods:
  • Parsley - Leeks - Apples - Spinach - Hazelnuts
Sample Metal Foods:
  • Ginger - Curry Powder - Kohlrabi - Peaches
Sample Water Foods:
  • Eggplant - Cabbage - Miso -  Cinnamon - Pumpkin Seeds
Raw Shoots and Seeds Salad: One of my favorite salads from Vegan … made simply

In a large mixing bowl add the following:
  • 2 - 3 cups mixed seed and bean sprouts (alfalfa, mung beans, soybeans, adzuki beans, chickpeas and radish seeds)
  • 3 tablespoons pumpkin seeds
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup of dried apricots or peaches
  • grated rind and juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons vegan omega - rich oil

You can make a lemon juice dressing by mixing lemon juice with the oil. Stir the dressing in the salad and enjoy!

Serene water in this landscape. This is how you should feel this month with receptive water over receptive water!

Plan "B"

Every notice every now and again things don't go as you planned? When life surprises us, it is the Universe trying to wake us up. It reminds us that we create the illusion and yoga seeks to rid that illusion of ignorance.

In the pose "Natarajana" (Lord of the Dance), Shiva stands on the dwarf of illusion and dances to his own dance. He doesn't get caught up in the small stuff or what is referred to as "samskaras." These are the patterns we get stuck in. We create the drama and then try to live in the drama. It becomes a vicious cycle. Everything must die to be reborn so we can be liberated.

Dance the dance of the universe and know you are wiser when you set into motion plan "B." Power up your grace, learn to take the good with the bad, think differently and simply move on.

Mealtimes and Tension?

Are mealtimes in your house chaotic and filled with tension?  This is problematic on so many levels, but let's just hone in on two areas that have the greatest impact.

Your Health and Relationships - The Energy of Mealtimes:

Everything is energy and that includes the food you ingest. Obviously, the healthier the food choices you make the higher the energy vibration that food will have. When preparing food, you infuse your own energy into it. Therefore, if you are yelling and screaming at your children, or anyone else for that matter, that tension becomes an ingredient for your meal. The tension and frustration moves from the plate to your digestive system. Chances are you'll be running for the Tums to ease your stomach. You'll also find ways to avoid your children or your partner because the environment is charged with discord.

Solution:

One way to reduce tension during mealtimes is to foster more calming yin energy. To make the atmosphere of your kitchen or dining room more yin, keep lots of soft fabrics there. For example, pure linen tablecloth or large cotton napkins. Choose yin colors such as pale greens, blues or creams to encourage a relaxing atmosphere. Lower the lighting source while you are eating. There is nothing like the flicker of candles to ease the body and mind. If there are doors to the room where you eat, close them. This will eliminate fast moving chi (energy) from passing through from another room.

You'll also want to turn off electronics during mealtime. No cell phone, TV or computer. Instead, try having a conversation and asking family members how their day went. I know this is a big one, but the energy of those devices are extremely yang (active), and contribute to tension.

You can also consider facing yin directions such as the north, northwest, west or southwest. These directions have less ions in the atmosphere and are considered quiet and peaceful. Soft background music is an option if you feel you need a little something to add. I find this option to bode especially well when your intention is to create a romantic ambiance.

How's Your Home Office Looking?

The home office makes the list for one of the top four rooms in feng shui. If at all possible, it is best to position this room to the front or yang side of the home, as the goal is to make contact with the outside world. Another option is to locate this room in one of your auspicious directions. To find out more about how to configure your "Best Directions Chart" see my Feng Shui Designs in a Flash DIY CD. The following tips will help you set up your office for success!
  • Command the entrance.
  • Use natural materials in furnishings.
  • Incorporate plants and salt lamp for natural air purification.
  • Decorate on the yang side (brighter colors and harder surfaces).
  • Use elemental color according to direction.
  • Display appropriate symbolism.
  • Include a water feature (North for career sector or SE for wealth), are good points to elevate the energy.  With a professional analysis several more points for success can be opened.
  • Movement device is excellent to generate energy.
  • Natural stones or quartz crystal is a great way to generate energy and cleanse EMF's.
  • Infuse natural lighting and incandescent.
  • Avoid harsh angles.
  • Include outside entrance if clients are expected to come to the physical office.
  • Position of desk should be in command with a solid backing for good support.
  • Avoid positioning desk or working table beneath beams or sloping ceiling.
  • Use EMF devices to absorb unhealthy emissions from equipment.
  • Spray essential oils.
  • Keep ergonomics in mind in your configuration.
With more and more people working at home or in a shared space, it is essential to follow the aforementioned simple guidelines when configuring your work environment. When the work environment is designed with health and success in mind, productivity soars!

Energy Focus Today!

Morning arrives with earth over water. That bodes well for dryer grounds, as the water tables should be beneath the earth and not above. These two elements do not blend together. Therefore, tension may arise especially when making decisions or negotiating business. Remain focused and organized so the energy can flow easily. Mindful organization skills makes this a very auspicious day to make important decisions, as the earth is grounding and supportive, while the water moves conversation forward. The bridge is metal, or your clear, concise and organized plan.

This afternoon there is a driving force to achieve. Quick mental processes are what navigates this path. Remain flexible and minimize the feeling of anxiety that may arise. Keep your attention on the goal and move from there.

Other Areas of Focus:

There is a powerful triad that begins with reviewing your goals and vision for the long haul. Think about who you want to associate with in terms of networking and mentors. This will directly influence your resources - including finances. Pay attention to partner whether in business or personal relationship, as the leadership they can provide is invaluable.

Overall, today is considered a day of abundance, so use it wisely!

Wondering About Where to Place Your Focus Today?

So Graceful:)

Wondering about the energy today and where you should place your focus? Let's take a look...

This morning it is best to focus on what you need to complete in terms of projects started. You will be tempted to delve into new things, but it makes more sense to finish up loose ends. This is especially so, as this afternoon the tendency will be to jump around from one thing to another, and that can leave you feeling scattered and unproductive. Make your list now and begin checking off your "to do" items to complete the tasks at hand. Take advantage of the natural flowing energy that is available to us all today.

Once you have worked through your list, shift your focus to your career. What I mean by this is to make an assessment of your long-term plan. Who will you network with to attract new opportunities? Consider family or elders to assist you in this process. With the right plan of action, your financial picture will change for the better. Don't forget to visualize the process and tell the universe exactly what your intention (s) are. The more clarity, the quicker the results. Sometimes a simply visual meditation is enough to get right energy sent your way.

For assistance with resources today create movement in the east. This can be achieved with moving water (water fountain) or plug in incense burner.

Wondering Where You Should Direct Your Focus This Month?

Wondering Where you Should Direct Your Focus this Month?
View this email in your browser

Welcome!
Wondering where you should place your focus this month? Take a moment to read through my newsletter as I point out the energy patterns for the month of October.

I personally find it helpful to have a point of reference when it comes to aligning my goals, otherwise I have a tendency to scatter my energy in too many areas. Let's find out together what will work best to keep things flowing for you this month!

Elevate Your Consciousness!

Mary Jane

Phase 1: Strong Water over Earth brings forth a few things to consider this month:

1. Be clear and concise when communicating your thoughts and opinions with others.

2. Be willing to be flexible and take the path of least resistance. Let go of judging self and others and watch how stress dissipates.

3. Don't give up! Persevere and accept assistance along the path.

4. Be humble and trust things are exactly how they should be.

* Strong water over earth can make us feel ungrounded. This actually has occurred with Hurricane Michael that hit the Florida Panhandle during the month of October, or strong water over earth. The root chakra is inadvertently impacted resulting in an unsteady feeling. Move slower and engage in earth activating practices like standing yoga poses, meditation, qi gong, tai chi or tending to your plants and herbs.

 Phase 2: Metal from Heaven:
The trigram known as Qian is centrally located for the month of October. Metal is the parent of water and the child of earth. Therefore, the string of elements this month is in flow without resistance. To fully benefit from this energy, keep your focus as follows:

1. The destination is inside. This is the only focus you need to thrive and recognize who you are and your gifts.

2. Remember to breathe. With every inhalation you take in divine source. With every exhalation you serve others.

3. Focus on those who you want to emulate, then apply that information to your life so you can in turn mentor others.

4. Be open to new opportunities and be willing to travel outside your comfort zone to find them.

5. Resources will find you when you approach things from a child-like perspective. Absorb what is around you as if you are seeing and feeling it for the first time.

6. Keep your goals aligned to your spirit. The only way to do this is to remain in one-pointed focus. You must close the other windows of your mind to achieve that.

7. Incorporate earth and metal elements in the northwest portent of your home to build and assist this heavenly energy. (Visit my website:www.fengshuiyoganj.com to view publications to assist you with the elements).

To remain in flow with the elemental energy configuration this month, it is beneficial to incorporate Earth, Metal and Water Foods in your diet.

  • Fennel - Figs - Bananas - Nuts - Zucchini
Sample Metal Foods:
  • Celery Root - Onions - Turnips - Rice
Sample Water Foods:
  • Fish - Seeds - Quinoa - Bean Sprouts - Butternut Squash
Simple Soup Recipe that Captures the Elements:
In a soup pot add the following:
  • Vegetable broth
